Applied Bioinformatics is also home to the sequencing facility Greenomics of the Wageningen Genomics Facility. More information on Greenomics can be found here.
The mission of Bioscience is to understand the molecular processes that have an impact on agricultural traits of plants. We employ the full spectrum of modern, high-throughput technologies to study associations between the genome, transcriptome, proteome and metabolome of plants and seek to link these to their phenotype and environment. Applied Bioinformatics aims to facilitate this ‘omics' research by providing the computational infrastructure for data acquisition, management and analysis. We develop and implement algorithms, models, software and databases, and provide bioinformatics services. Our research focusses on genome and metabolome analysis. In several of these areas, we collaborate with the Laboratory of Bioinformatics at Wageningen University.
This portal gives information on our research and the applications, databases, and services we develop and provide. Access to some of the resources is open, others are meant for internal use and require authorization. The links menu, however, provides some directions to important bioinformatics services available in the Netherlands and around the world.
We participate in the Centre of Biosystems Genomics, the Centre of Excellence on plant genomics within the Netherlands Genomics Initiative. Genome sequence data and annotations from tomato and potato are available under the CBSG menu.
